Reduce audio size
Audio Compressor
Compress audio files by exporting a smaller MP3 copy in your browser. This is useful when a recording is too large for email, web upload, messenger sharing, learning platforms, or quick storage on a phone.
How audio compression works here
RAON Tools decodes the source audio in the browser when supported, then exports it as an MP3 file with the bitrate you choose. A lower bitrate makes a smaller file but removes more audio detail. A higher bitrate keeps more detail but reduces the file size less.
Recommended settings
- Voice notes: 96-128 kbps can be enough for speech and simple recordings.
- Lessons and interviews: 128-160 kbps is a balanced starting point.
- Music and rehearsal audio: 192-256 kbps usually keeps more detail.
- High-quality MP3 copy: 320 kbps gives the largest MP3 output but the least compression loss.
Compression vs conversion
Compression focuses on reducing file size. Conversion focuses on changing the file format. In this tool, compression is done by creating an MP3 copy with a smaller bitrate, so it can also make WAV, M4A, FLAC, OGG, AAC, or OPUS sources easier to share as MP3 files.
Audio compressor FAQ
Will compression reduce sound quality?
Usually yes. Lower bitrate MP3 files are smaller because they discard more audio detail.
Can I compress multiple files?
Yes. The main audio tool can process up to 10 selected files in one batch.
