HEIC to JPG guide
HEIC is common on iPhone because it can store high-quality photos efficiently. The problem is compatibility: some websites, forms, older computers, and editing tools still expect JPG.
When to convert HEIC to JPG
- A website upload form does not accept HEIC.
- You need to send a photo to someone using an older device.
- A document editor or school system only lists JPG or PNG.
- You want a simpler format for quick sharing.
What changes after conversion
JPG is a compressed photo format. Converting HEIC to JPG creates a new copy. Depending on quality settings, the file may become larger or smaller than the HEIC original. Keep the original if the photo matters.
Quality tip
For ordinary uploads, a JPG quality setting around 80% is often a good balance. For photos that need to stay sharp, use a higher quality setting. For simple proof or form submission, a smaller file may be more important.
