Music practice audio guide
Practice audio needs to be easy to play, easy to send, and clear enough for students or ensemble members to follow. The right export depends on whether the file is a source recording, a rehearsal track, or a quick reference.
Keep source recordings clear
If you record a lesson, rehearsal, or accompaniment source, keep a WAV or high-quality original. That version is useful if you later need to trim, adjust volume, or export a new MP3 with different settings.
Use MP3 for sharing
For students and practice groups, MP3 is usually the easiest format. It works on phones and common media players. For music, start around 192 kbps. If the file is mainly spoken instruction, 128 kbps may be enough.
Prepare the file before sending
- Trim silence at the beginning and end.
- Boost volume carefully if the recording is too quiet.
- Compress to MP3 if the file is too large for messaging.
- Keep the original recording in case a new version is needed.
